Hoyt has the aura of an eight. In every scene he's present he exerts power through fear and is portrayed as a highly dangerous man. I can see where the 7 is coming from, he sadisticly enjoys torturing people and is needlessly cruel, such as when he burned one of his men alive to set an example of what happens to those that don't follow his order, or when he blew up a ship full of hostages, dancing to "Ride of Valkyries". Though if you consider the sin attributed to type 8, lust, I think his character starts to make more sense. His 8 traits are way more pronounced. He is domineering, constantly in need to control the situation he's in as seen in the game of poker when he shrugged of Sam's killing and demanded the game continues. He effortlessly controls the slave trade on his islands and even invokes fear and submission on Vaas, who himself is equally cruel and domineering. Hoyt Volker is the main antagonist of Far Cry 3. A ruthless drug kingpin and brutal human trafficker, Hoyt is the main source of the Rook Islands' misery. As well as growing drugs, and trafficking in both human and weapons markets, he runs the Privateers, a ruthless and bloodthirsty mercenary group which protects Hoyt and his businesses, based around the South Island which Hoyt himself "rules". He is widely feared amongst' the islands inhabitants, being described as "armageddon" compared to Vaas Montenegro. According to Dennis, Hoyt was the main source of "all the evil" happening on the island. Hoyt Volker appeared to be a sadistic, vicious, emotionless, deranged and mentally unstable psychopath who was shown ruthlessly torturing and executing innocents and was the main reason for the Rook Islands' endless turmoil that has taken the lives of many of the island's residents whom Hoyt despises for an unknown reason. #CompleteMonster
