[1/5] ⟡ ESFP (Se-Fi) ES(F) SEE Chiori argument ⟡ Since typing Chiori as anything but her type (except for Socionics, in terms of the consensus here) is a popular tendency these days, I would like to prevent further misinterpretation of her character by discussing her typology and explaining why she is, first of all, not an introvert, second, exactly ESFP. My argument will be structured as such: talking about extraversion and introversion in Chiori's case, explaining why Extraverted Sensing is her base program which guides her decision-making and sets her point of focus, explaining Fi, exploring her valued aspects and, finally, debunking Si. Just a little bit though. 1. Chiori's extraversion: People have provided numerous 'arguments' for her being introverted, such as her being egocentric, somewhat isolated (or so people say), cold, etc. But I must point out that these traits aren't indicative of introversion. While social isolation and other similar things can be present in all types at some point due to different reasons, be it the need to focus, fear of people, bad temper or something else, only extraverts make it their goal and fundamental principle to make an impact on the world around them, 'leave their mark' globally. It doesn't matter if they're "yappers" or not, even though extraverts do have a tendency for being more outgoing, but it's precisely because they're *out-going*—their focus is mainly outward, and they're more confident in their ability to interact with the outer world and identify the objects in it. Chiori is exactly that—her cognitive predisposition is extraversion as she's always talking about the outer world and her influence on it, not the other way around. She takes pride in knowing how to change the world and affect others with her work, and that is her true objective and desire. In the Chiori's Hobbies voiceline, she talks about how she is afraid that she doesn't have the impact that she wants to have, although it is no reason to abandon her dream of making her work known throughout the whole world. Even her ascension voicelines are the words of an extravert if I've even seen one: 🔊 Ascension 1: ...No good. Still feels too ordinary. 🔊 Ascension 2: ...Not bad, but it's still lacking the "wow" factor that makes it really stand out. 🔊 Ascension 4: Oho... That's more like it. I think I've got it. 🔊 Ascension 6: Of course, as a master of my craft, my hands will never shake while cutting fabric, but I'll admit, the excitement and anticipation has my heart really beating right now. Thank you for staying with me the whole time I worked on this piece. It is extremely important to me. I now have far more confidence in myself as I embark on the next step of my journey. It is evident in the voicelines above that her search for "uniqueness" is a case of an extraverted person searching for something that makes them stand out from the rest and hence bring more attention to their person. While introverts like, for example, Lynette value their internal integrity more than their ability to have an influence on the objects around them, and they would not sacrifice "their" world for the outer one in normal circumstances, it is an honor for an extravert like Chiori to spend her energy on things that, in return, could raise her value in the eyes of others. An extravert is certain that the object of quality always has relationships of quality, that the way the outside world relates to them and feels about them is determined by their personal characteristics or activity, hence they try to improve these characteristics in different ways. For an extravert type, social relationships are a result and sign of the subject’s social value and quality. Also, the argument "Chiori's worldview is subjective, and so she is an introverted type" doesn't work, no matter how people like using this argument template to justify their opinion in different extraverts' cases. *Everyone's* worldview is subjective—that's what makes us human. No one's perception can be completely objective, no one's perception can be unfiltered reality. Personal biases and preferences always get in the way. So if a person or a character says something that may be interpreted as "subjective", that doesn't necessarily mean they are introverted. Chiori may have some opinions of her own, sure, but they mainly concern the outer world and the objects in it. I'm using "mainly" because, once again, people and characters (who reflect people in fiction) can't be one thing only. Jung himself stressed that every individual possesses both mechanisms, and the only way to distinguish one from another, is the observation of the attitude that prevails most of the time.
