🌟STEVEN IS A SOCIAL 9 PART 1🌟 (Continued in comments section) ✨“I will fight to be everything that everybody wants me to be when I'm grown.”✨ Introduction I used to be on the Steven E2 train, and it makes sense why so many are. He's “the helper.” He exhausts himself through constantly tending to others. But with a closer look at the enneagram, it becomes clear that this behavior is not exclusive to 2s. And with a closer look at Steven's character, it becomes clear that his hyper-availability and need to be of assistance isn't rooted in E2 pride, but in E9 sloth. I will start with explaining why Steven is a 9 and specifically a SO9, and then explain why he's not a 2 or a 7. Why Steven Is A 9 Ichazo describes the 9’s indolence fixation as, “This person seeks love outside himself and makes no effort to find his essence and peace.” He describes the laziness passion as, “For the ego-indolent, the ego will persuade him to be very lazy in searching for his essence, though he may be hyperactive in finding ways to avoid working toward his essence.” These passages describe Steven to a T. The premise of “Steven Universe Future” is described as Steven finally having to face his own demons when everybody doesn't need his constant help anymore. Self-forgetting and focusing on anything but his inner psyche is shown time and time again to be Steven's biggest issue and ends up having catastrophic consequences for him in the end. Naranjo describes the E9 sloth passion as, “In turn, a translation from the Greek “a-chedia” (no care), accidia refers to a laziness of the psyche and of the spirit, rather than a tendency to inaction, and so does “indolence” in the context of this book. Such spiritual laziness may be spoken of in terms of...a deafening to the spirit and a loss of the sense of being to the point of not even knowing the difference—a spiritual coarsening. Psychologically, accidia manifests as a loss of interiority, a refusal to see, and a resistance to change.” This passage again describes how numb a 9 is to their inner self and their true feelings. Steven constantly fights having to think about and admit his authentic emotions in “Steven Universe Future.” Now that he doesn't have to constantly play therapist for everybody all the time, he becomes haunted by all his trauma rising to the surface. But he'd numbed himself to all of it and deflected for so long that it was absolutely overwhelming for him to actually care about his own feelings. This sudden overwhelm after being asleep to himself for so long is what led to his mental break in the last episode. He'd done what a 9 does all through the first series (just living on the surface without introspecting) and then when his trauma made him have to introspect, it was far too much for him to handle. He wasn't used to looking inside and facing his actual feelings. Like Naranjo described, Steven’s spirit had become coarsened and he didn't know what to do when it became less coarse due to trauma. Now let's look at why Steven is a SO9 specifically. I have seen some SX9 claims and I'll just quickly debunk it: SX9 is described as extremely introverted, akin to “a dead fly on a wall” (Naranjo). No way is a character as outgoing and expressive as Steven a type as reserved as SX9. Why Steven Is A SO9 Ichazo titled SO9 "Participation.” He describes it as needing to be in the group and needing to feel part of it. He adds that they desire to do so without perceiving their own feelings of alienation (this is more of a disconnect from themselves rather than actual alienation). Naranjo describes this participation passion as, “For the social E9, the experience of not fitting in, of feeling different, of believing that they do not have what it takes to be part of a group or a community, leads them to overcompensate, to express a kind of generosity, being very attentive to the others and the group. It is a character very gifted in satisfying the needs of others. And he becomes a good leader. The best type of leader, in the sense of being a good person, generous and sacrificed in the face of any type of responsibility that others want to give him…His passion is to do what is necessary to pay the toll that allows him to be admitted to the group. But, for this, a lot of effort is needed.”

전기

Steven is the lovable, half-human and half-Gem boy who is still figuring out how to harness his powers from the Gem he inherited from his mother. He's goofy, energetic and optimistic, yet takes his role as a Crystal Gem seriously, learning all his lessons, and taking his discipline with good humor when the situation calls for it. He is very much in touch with his emotions and does not shy away from saying how he feels. He is as impulsive as any other boy his age might be, but counts on his Gem family to keep him safe.
