He bans people from his store if they step on his values, however trivial they seem (disliking NBA games, hating people like Moe and Skid before Moe even instigated anything, viewing his store as a space where his values reign supreme). SX4 is evident; having felt slighted in the real world by "jocks" and "normies", he seeks refuge and distinction in the edgy video games he believe make him special (he emphasizes the rarity of his Liquid Blood Type X game being the only one in the continent and having the highest score), and when Lars unintentionally destroys that illusion of individuality, Devon can't handle it and reacts with wrath.
