I've seen the film twice and can not see Eric as an INFJ. His Se is too developed. When we first see him, he shows strong Fi (and probably Te) by swooping down and boldly telling the crew that what they're doing is wrong and to open their eyes. Honestly, someone with high Fe would be tempted to follow the crowd even if they knew what they were doing was wrong. When he spends time with Ariel, I can see his Se and Ni functions in conflict with each other. He enjoys the moment with her and has fun discovering things and sees things from her perspective. But then he's reminded of the "mysterious" women who rescued him, and he looks out at the sea wondering if she's still out there. Ariel and Eric have so much in common. They both can not accept what their families expect of them. They're bored of the mundane, and they both want to explore what's beyond their world. If Ariel is being typed as an ENFP, then why not Eric? I think this version of Ariel is an ESFP or ISFP.
