As an ISTP I can attest that he is an ISTP completely in a comfortable environment where he shares the same interests so he gets along easily among them and can appear outgoing. A healthy ISTP with a healthy partner can have his lower Fe well developed by making his work easy. It's not that he just behaves "a little mysterious" and that's why we think he's ISTP, it's just that his actions and decisions despite being impulsive go through an Ti dom filter before being executed. Those who say he is an ESTP have not seen a comfortable ISTP in their lives.
