This.... is really a BIG mistype. Mal isn't an ESTP by any chance, people really like to forget that ESFPs have Te, I view Jasper as the real ESTP in the show. Fi: Mal is completely oriented by his feelings and try to hide it, certainly not in a Fe way, ranking importance of each friend he got, putting Alina undoubtedly in the first position, this doesn't mean that he doesn't value his other friends. he critic his leaders actions as in why would you people leave a friend and a comrade who worked with you all the time. He constantly cheer Alina and tell her that even in a very warp environment like the second army (was their army the second one?) or orphanage they can live through all that as long as they don't lose themselves, and that even if they lost everything they still have each other, there's also a clear Fi in the letters he wrote to Alina. "I never said I was a smart person" - literally him before illogically jump in front of the strongest person on the ship to fight him like an enthusiastic maniac. Te: he can be very task completion oriented if he wanted to, like the Stag tracking mission, he was so determined to find it even after the injuries he had, unlike Jasper who knows when to trick and when to stop and run. Also many people here think his tracking skills as an enough argument for Ti, and this is completely wrong, all the ways he used to track the stag was evidence-based that completely relied on measurable elements, that's exactly what Te is about, not Ti, at least this time.
