“I don’t think I’m better than you.” “It’s okay. Everyone does… Doesn’t mean it’s true, though.” Possibly the most accurate Carrie, Angela Bettis plays a lonely yet self-aware teenage girl who’s desperate to belong. Her poor mental health and sheltered personality make it difficult to type her, but I’ll try to capture her essence to the best of my ability. ISFJ: Carrie is diligent and repetitive. She notices personal situations based on the impressions of her past (remembering when she brought the stones down on her house and linking that to her powers) and thinks about interpersonal situations at a special standard. Her inferior Ne makes her uncomfortable with change, stubbornly going along with new innovations. When Tommy invites Carrie to the Prom, she immediately assumes it’s a trick based off her past (Si-Ne) and the people who he associates himself with (Fe). When researching and practicing her powers, she bases her thought processes off of a singular idea and tries to be rational (Ti), but still refuses to do/doesn’t understand certain things out of her comfort zone (Ne). Melancholic [Dominant]: Melancholy makes Carrie pessimistic, assuming the worst in scenarios of romance and friendship. She’s also rather slow-paced, passive, and agreeable. Lastly, this temperament makes Carrie imaginative, daydreaming in an attempt to ignore the negative aspects of her life. SEI: Carrie is connected to her physical state as well as others. She understands that certain things will cause negative results (being aware of her body and acne), but struggles with going into brief rushes of energy, especially due to her powers. She also has some interest in experiences that satisfy her physical needs, but is disconnected by her introversion and paranoia. 4w5-so/sx-469: Carrie primarily uses the creatively expressive traits of the 4, backed up by the secretive and detached perceptions of the 5. She yearns to understand herself through knowledge of social ideals and panics when she can’t live up to them. She compares herself to others with a shameful distaste and shy self-loathing, feeling like she’s done something wrong despite being a victim of the people she’s so desperate to impress. Due to her rough childhood, Carrie is rarely comfortable enough to share her thoughts, leading to repressed hatred and destructive urges. Due to the nature of the 4 and 9, she’s withdrawn and sensitive, not to mention hesitant by the nature of the 6. She isn’t that impulsive, and instead tries to find her place in the world. ELVF: First Emotion makes Carrie imaginative, leading her to daydream about the feelings she can’t express. Second Logic is the part of her that’s comprehending, intelligent, and sometimes witty. Third Will makes her insecure and scornful with others, and she attempts to improve this until Prom happens. Forth Physics makes her looped into her own head, which leads to her catastrophizing and creating a negative world for herself and others. RLUAI: Carrie is both self-loathing and jealous. She has trouble with concentration and recreational activities like sports due to her lack of energy, which leads her to be less interested in reality. The primarily related traits of Carrie and this type are loneliness, sadness, fear, poor productivity, anxiety, confusion, and a weak understanding of her purpose.
