While traveling to the Capital for the National Examinations, Ping unknowingly becomes entangled in Jue's secret operation. Using clever reasoning, Ping solves the case, disrupting Jue's plan. While saving Jue's life, Ping discovers Jue's secret. Henceforth, the pair, despite being unequal in status and possessing incompatible ideals become close.
