ENFJ Extroverted: "He is certainly the leader of the family and the one whose strength has taken us on so many adventures. Mauricio is incredibly sensitive. He’s a people person who likes hearing stories and listening, thanks to his pleasant and positive disposition." -- from his wife, Karina Grippaldi from Pochettino: "The lads, or people in general, spend eight hours asleep and eight hours at work every day. Fine. The other eight are to be enjoyed. So why spend them glued to your phone on Twitter or Instagram? We don’t communicate, we don’t share. Being with someone no longer has the same significance as it used to. One eye is always glancing at a phone. Maybe I am getting old. Older. So there is a natural tendency to see the past through rose-tinted glasses. I feel our generation (maybe all generations) lives between two worlds, different but equally exciting, sometimes prompting us to ask ourselves, ‘Are we losing the essence of what life is all about?’" "But, like many others, I need people by my side; I enjoy sharing, helping them to grow and giving them a voice." "When he gives a talk on the pitch then he likes the players to be very close to him. Little things, little details, but very, very important. It’s not about football, it’s more about human relations." -- Hugo Lloris "You don’t want to cross him or, more like, you don’t want to disappoint him. When you went on the pitch you wanted to die for him. I think it’s because he connects with people." -- Jay Rodriguez "Every morning he goes around shaking everybody’s hand and you can see when he’s doing that that he’s looking into your eyes to see how you are that day. Within a few seconds of speaking to you, he knows if you’re going to do well." -- Danny Rose Intuition: "I need data and tests, but what most influences my decisions is my ability to see if the right energy is flowing. I can foresee things that are going to happen and the associated consequences, or which path each player is going to take. I can see it in their auras." "Society is changing very quickly and it might not be wise to use an example from the past, as it is not certain to have the desired effect on a different generation. Things that we were sensible to say a decade ago hardly ever provoke the same response in a younger group. This is a challenge for the coach." Feeling: "I like to forge emotional bonds with the people that I work with." "Football is, or feels at least to me, a context of emotions." "The warmth and emotional context to how he is is something you probably can't teach." -- Adam Lallana https://youtu.be/3bFqjJx6VUA?feature=shared "Pochettino has human touch that clubs are forgetting in era of analytics" https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/pochettino-has-human-touch-that-clubs-are-forgetting-in-era-of-analytics-zs2st6mwj?region=global "Why is man-management important? Because players are people. They are not furniture." https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11778877/mauricio-pochettino-exclusive-spurs-manager-s-fascinating-man-management-blueprint "He judges a lot by body language." -- Hugo Lloris "[Armando Broja] must smile more." https://sports.yahoo.com/chelsea-armando-broja-welcomes-mauricio-222924580.html "Ramón Planes says that I was a samurai in another life. I think he’s referring to the fact that I have values, I’m a fighter and I forge ahead without fear, especially when the going gets tough." "There's a few things that he really, really values. Things being respect, respect your teammates, staff, all the support staff, every single person that makes these opportunities possible. We have a very, very good team here and a very, very good support team here. So it's about supporting each other in the right way and continue to grow." -- Tyler Adams "I've always appreciated when people make an effort to care about the player but also the person too. This is how he is." -- Christian Pulisic https://www.youtube.com/live/xw0coxfYPuo?feature=shared&t=745 Judging: "There is a type of player I admire. One that is always ready, who hardly ever doubts himself and knows how to give, and how to take." "You can't be late because Pochettino was mad on that." -- Kieran Trippier https://youtube.com/shorts/rxQY1mYBJYc?feature=shared "The camp has been intense. We've been out on the field for two hours, which is probably the longest training session I've had with the national team in my fourteen years of being in and out." -- Tim Ream "I’ve never punished a player for being late. I prefer to talk it over with them. Punishment is the preserve of those who can’t wield their power in other ways. That is left for those who think they are bosses. I believe in leadership. Two different things." Book source: Brave New World, Inside Pochettino's Spurs
