i don't think he is a Fe-ter, his atteation/validation-seeking can be explained by a underdeveloped Fi-aux which can make a ExFP insecure and wanting to be seen as attractive, special, unconventional, etc. if his aux is underdeveloped he would probably have loop tendencies, Te loop tends to default to cold external measurements of self-worth so that one is constantly chasing validation through an endless chain of superficial or short-lived goals, while Fe loop tends to use social perception as a foil for defining the self, often trying to dominate relationships and/or manipulate social perception in order to feel more confident and intelligent, Dewey seems to fit more with Te, at least to me
