ah, an instant classic example of a, "Let's make the woman character more badass by turning her into an ESTJ." situation. Adi... you won't be forgiven for this. Anyways, this "Mary Ann Arkham" is a bit of a blender of guns (unfortunately not the Kalina Ann), guts, grit, principle, and overcompensation. to juxtapose a moment: Lady from DMC 4 was driven by an intrinsic need to kill her father, to soothe her "screaming soul" that urges her to do so. She was driven by a need to kill Arkham and demons to prove something like, "I'm not like you. I'm human, I'm what kills you." This variant, when faced with her father's betrayal, took it personally, deeply. She decides that all demons are bad and scary because the one man who she was supposed to trust chose to become one. So naturally she attaches herself to the militaristic mindset, finding confidence in Baines, and furthering his mission. She doesn't even care that her father is still out there. She's a lot like a Chihuahua in the anime but with (plot armor induced) biting. She is very clearly someone who attaches herself to an ideology for safety and security, then fights tooth and nail to prove she isn't scared at all. But she is. Lady in the games went "Okay, Dante chose humanity. Maybe we won't always see eye to eye, but he's a decent person, my father was the true demon." In the anime she's like, "Okay well maybe Dante isn't all that bad buttttt he's still a demon and that makes him scary so I'll betray him anyways because that's what Baines wants me to do." I guess we'll find out for sure in season 2, but currently she's definitely written as both a 1 and a 6, almost in equal measure I'd say. I'm not a fan of the writing in this series but I'm low-key excited for her crash out next season.
