Scott is an ESFJ EF(S) SP3. Extraverted Feeling (Fe) judges information and directs a person’s decisions based on an objective moral system and shared values. The personal, subjective criteria of opinion is repressed to the farthest in order to comfort with what is perceived as the correct, good, respectable and admirable thing to be and to do in society or community. This produces a type that does not only want to be perceived as ethical, but is also more in tone with the emotional realm surrounding them. That represents Scott pretty perfectly. He fears coming out to the public because she's highly concerned how this will affect people to see him and how his image is going to be damaged. He priorities external judgment and gets insecure whenever he has to be himself fully. That could indicate Te (Extraverted Thinking) as well, since it also shapes the person’s judgment to what is externally approved — but the thing about Scott is that while he is very careful about how he is being seen, he is also quite emotionally intelligent when it comes to his relationship with other people. Him and Kip is a great example — a low Fi or natural thinking type wouldn't have so much facility on understanding and being so receptive to the emotional need of another without it causing some degree of uncomfortableness and insecurity, but Scott is the other way around: he is very flexible when it comes to how other people feel, being able to manage that with carefulness and attention, with the desire to not hurt conflicting with his fear to what others will think. This is pretty much Fe dominance dynamic. About his enneagram, I fully disagree with E1. While he wants to do the right thing and is somehow pretty rigid and awkward, his decisions don't come from a need for moral perfectionism. Ones have a lot of anger because they're dissatisfied with how things are in reality because they're less perfect than they think they should be, which encourages them to constantly improve themselves, others and things to their ideal. Scott’s whole concern is about his image and performing to what people expect from him. He doesn't see himself as valuable by what he truly is (Shame), needing to conform to exterior expectations in order to cope with an inner need to be loved. That's more signs of someone from Heart triad. His whole character development wasn't about being conflicted of what is “good” or “bad”, but about the contradiction between embracing his authenticity and giving what others want — it's more focused on adaptation and flexibility to external demands rather than being guided by strong moral convictions. Instead of basing his self worth on how good he is for people and if they need them to meet their needs (E2) or creating richness of character as a compensation for being too different (E4), he has a very stable notion of the kind of person he has to be in order to be admired and valued by others as someone successful and competent, and he wants to be that and constantly prove himself through achievements (E3). The self-preservation attitude matches better with him, since it produces a character that is constantly worried about maintaining a level of excellence, productivity and performance not to be fully recognized and have power (SO3) or being desired by others (SX3), but to guarantee his own safety and stability, as if he needs constantly to be compatible with what others want from him and being “enough” and “correct” to guarantee peace and security in their material reality. SP3 are more anxious, private, self-perfecting and generous, which can have them to be commonly confused as E1.
