I grew up listening to Metal and I’m still going strong! I have heard many Metal bands in my life (Death, Dissection, Emperor, Electric Wizard, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Cannibal Corpse, Pantera, etc.) But I have to say that my two favorites are Metallica and Black Sabbath. There are people who scream their heads off by the mere mention of popular, successful, and mainstream bands of any genre. Do you think Black Sabbath is too basic and boring? Too bad! They literally invented the genre and everything they did, they invented (don’t get specific and nit-picky with me. You get my point). You don’t get to diss Black Sabbath. You are not nearly qualified. And yes, they are still heavy even with today’s “standards”. “MeTaLiCa Is OvErRaTeD aNd OvErPlAyEd!” Just shut up already. Your complaining has been overrated and overplayed for a long time at this point. You wish you are even 5% of what the Metallica members are. You wish you wrote “Master of Puppets” (song and album). You wish you wrote “Creeping Death”. You wish you wrote “Nothing Else Matters”. Metallica is one of the greatest bands of all time and got the success they rightfully deserved. All of your b*tching-moaning-and-complaining about that band only makes YOU look bad and dumb. You’re not clever. You’re not enlightened. You’re not even unique. Instead, you’re annoying, obnoxious, and sheep. My message to anyone who wants to pick a fight with me in the comments: “I can’t hear you. I’m too busy listening to Metallica.” Side note: 1969-1974 era King Crimson was SO Metal. The main riff to “21st Century Schizoid Man” is one of the heaviest things ever, and the entire “Red” album is the foundation of Progressive Metal. I would love to see Robert Fripp make stuff with Mike Portnoy, Kirk Hammett, or Synyster Gates (or anyone from Avenged Sevenfold). I mean, Tony Levin already made stuff with Portnoy, Petrucci, and Rudess. I just think that would be cool.
