Though i think it is the case that this alternate, the preacher, is responsible for all on screen murders. I think he was created by Adam trough Stanley, went off the murder his parents, murdered Cesar, Mark, Ruth, Jonah, Evelyn (if she is dead), and is directly responsible for the full conversion of Adam (he tried to kill himself so many times and in so many ways based on his room in Mandela Catalyst [which is think is the Preacher, he is the catalyst in the entire series] that all assimilation of Adam Murray done by the Intruder on a new alternate, who is now the Adam we know, disappeared, which Adam did partly because he does want to die very badly but also in defiance of the Intruder). I would not be suprised if the red text always signifies the Preacher talking, since Gabriel's is the handwriting as we see in the beginning of Vol. 4. TLDR: all murders that take place on screen are done by the Preacher, this boi is working
Biografia
The Preacher makes its first appearance once Adam goes to sleep inside the Torres house. It's seen whispering to Adam, supposedly in an attempt to inflict him with Metaphysical Awareness Disorder to no avail. The Preacher is visible for another moment, only shrouded in darkness. The Preacher is revealed to be the "overdriven assimilation" of an elderly nun and is titled "a messenger" in a similar vein to 6's introduction as "an intruder". The Preacher's face appears during 6's conversation with Adam's alternate where we find out that the Preacher was an Alternate from Adam's childhood that was scared away by the light from the television.
