Se-Ti-Fe-Ni At first I thought he might be a less obvious type with a Se Loop or Grip but after watching Yakuza 3 times I have to go with the good old ESTP doing their thing. As a child he'd spend all his allowances for instant reward, later as a grown up he'd spend all his salary (what was left) on alcohol and women. Never married and never minded being so. He's the most grounded of the party, doesn't care for imagination and values life experience. He's action-oriented, extremely adaptable and analytical. A good detective. At some point he seemed to be using Ni but there are 2 observations: 1) Adachi is 59 years old, which is enough time for someone to develop their Inferior Function. 2) Se users can get the bigger picture when they have enough facts (just like a puzzle). This is why he took a guess about the hole war scheme but didnt feel too confident until he got the last piece and the most important, he can explain by detail the logic of it. I would say he's definitely not a Fe dom since he's overlooked many situations where it was required: 1) Not the best social skills. He didn't put any effort into getting along with Ichiban (he could have tried a more friendly approach instead of calling him a dumbass and being so straighforward about wanting to use him from the very beginning) 2) Constantly avoids sentimentalisms in others and himself (only opens a little when he drinks). Gets uncomfortable and embarrased and tries to make it more light-hearted and fun. 3) Not the most empathetic. Doesn't anticipate other people's needs and feelings. He didn't even ask Saeko if she wanted to join them for a drink, constantly makes fun of the others and went to eat when he was supposed to meet with Ichiban (when Nick appears and helps him with the phone which Adachi didn't even bother teaching how to use xD). Even Ichiban who has auxiliary Fi is warmer, more considerate and altruistic. Now, the Takashi substory is a bit confusing because it makes Adachi look like a Feeler BUT not many people know that ESTPs can be very generous and caring when someone ticks their hearts (especially kids). He shows affection by more indirect ways like giving money, buying food and drinks and sharing experiences since he's not into 'cheesy' displays of love. They're not psychopaths, they can have moral dilemmas, seek justice and feel guilt. ESTPs are probably the most resilient type, Adachi didn't mind getting demoted twice, and what is worst, just when he was about to retire. That's a hard one, yet he simply brushed it off with a joke and a drink. Plus, they can stick to a goal when it comes to revenge (they take life and people by the horns). Lawful? I think he's more of a Neutral. He's okay with bending the rules when he needs to. Also, I think Adachi was exposed by the Director of Hello Work for some sort of tax evasion related to marital status xD. Oh, and the convenience store drinks he sneaked into the bar, the white lies to Takashi. And let's not forget when he sneaked into Hamako's building and basically scared the hell out of Ichiban as a prank.
