I can see now how Jaerim may be an example of a very healthy SX4 Jaerim at the beginning was someone who feels unfairness deeply, someone who wants to prove themselves, to "defeat" those who wronged him and make them see him in what he think is his true self. He does mention a lot how he thinks of himself as ugly and seems to be really fixated on that identity, hence he, like any 4, wishes to overcome that insecurity by an identity unique to him: "a tough-headed bull", "I just push ahead no matter how tough things might seem" "I have better grades, I'm more qualified, and even more responsible than him! How could they choose him over me?" (Ch1) "I'll show you what an ugly guy really becomes when he sets his mind!" (Ch2) His relationship with Yuri in the beginning chapters really showcase this side of him thoroughly. He is insecure about his looks, but at the same time want to "defeat" the lookism worldview oppressing him - which is embodied by Yuri. Yuri is a gifted beauty who could never understand how people like him feel, nor would look at his potential. For this reason, he devoted all his might to cut down Yuri, to make him regret having underestimate him, but also crave any minor validation that Yuri gave him. "I don't want him to see me like this. I can do better! But...you're the one who's responsible for this, so you should worry about me!" This quote and the whole hospital scene is just peak SX4 tbh. He hates Yuri because Yuri is the embodiment of the unfairness that he faces. He feels the need to defeat this unfairness so strongly that he'd rather get sick than not meeting Yuri's work standards, at the same time the need to be recognized. Homeboy was giggling and kicking his feet that Yuri showed him 1 ounce of recognition for his work and even his incomplete apology. Very E4 of him. (continuing this later)
