Here we go: ⊸ Just because a celebrity took the 16Personalities test, it does NOT mean the result they got is their type. ⋄ Why? ⋆ It is a wide misconception that personality types can "change." According to the site, you should take the test every 6 months to supposedly check your type. First of all, development does not function in that way. People either mature or remain/degrade to an immature level of disposition and behavior OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. For example, the transition from teenage adolescence to an adult, which occurs over several years. THAT is development. ⋆ Furthermore, this idea indicates a high possibility of people manipulating their results (may occur consciously or unconsciously*). Tests in general are not accurate because people usually do not view themselves holistically (they are often influenced by mood). Even if they do, there's a high chance that people may squeeze that breadth of traits into one particular way of thinking. You see, once a person takes the test multiple times, they begin to notice a pattern: these questions indicate certain traits (i.e Do you like pondering about abstract matters? --> N-type). Therefore, they have now gained the freedom to answer in ways to get a particular result. "I got ESFJ before, but I think I'm more intuitive than this test gives me credit for. *I'll answer more strongly when it comes to the intuitive questions*". This is just one example of test manipulation, and a very direct one. In conclusion, this test is basically designed "for fun." It does not glean proper knowledge of one's cognitive process, rather reflecting stereotypical behavior. *This is a far more common occurrence since it is now a trend. Trends naturally allocate a generous emphasis on very certain aesthetics. It just so happens that certain personality types have far more attractive stereotypes tied to them than other types. Hence, test manipulation to conform to the status quo. This worsens when people see their favorite celebrities and idols following the trend. ⋆ In addition, the design of the questions themselves is problematic. They are very black and white. Of course, there's always that comfortable neutral option to escape making a decision on the extremes of the spectrum, or if you don't fit them at all. This results in people with varying statistics of their results. Two people get INTJ. One person is 98% I, 95% N, 87% T, and 65% J. The other is 54% I, 62% N, 56% T, and 96% J. Do you spot how inconsistent this can be? Of course, no two people are the same, but these questions and results provide a fake belief that two very different people (in terms of cognition) are the same (behaviorally). This connects back to my previous point on manipulation. How easily can someone change their result? Very easily. TLDR: 16Personalities is not an accurate measure of personality due to problems with its structure/format, base theory, and more.
