Hanna is a SP2. I don’t know if I want to write a full argument because I don’t agree with how the community types most of the characters and so I fear it’d be useless, but Hanna is absolutely NOT a self-preservation 4 and it feels like her character is getting completely misinterpreted simply because she’s relatively serious and hard-working in comparison to the usual childlike quality of the SP2. To type her SP4 is plain mischaracterization and simplifies the entire process of her character; she isn’t rigid, stoic, willing to endure, or detached. (And if she was a 4, mind you, she’d be a SX4). I will add some excerpts of the self-pres 2 wiki to make my point. Hanna does NOT perceive a feeling of lack within herself, but rather with the world around her; in fact, the “envy” she experiences is because she feels as if though she should be deserving of privileges in the first place, because some people get the privilege handed to them on a silver plate, and yet she has had to work for it only to not receive any praise. This need for comparison with others I feel is very misunderstood by the community for only pertaining to the enneagram 4, when in fact, SP2 is classified as a type who lives comparing itself to others; “This type of E2 has an inordinately high criterion of competence, that is to say, a perfectionist and obsessive ideal self, which is what makes him so motor. This stems from a feeling of inferiority for not feeling loved and, on the contrary, abandonable. The difference with E4 is that he uses pride to get love and not to be abandoned (HELLO!!! Her whole thing with Sherry?!? Her need to be close to her because she fears being alone the most). The conflict is that he lives comparing himself, disadvantageously and advantageously, with everyone. This fosters a disdainful attitude (raised nose), like royalty looking down on others” “The conservation E2 seems not to experience envy at first glance, since he compensates for his downward comparisons by showing an attitude of abundance and superiority. Envy, human and inevitable, is hidden as a way of covering up shortcomings and avoiding competitive disadvantage. He can live it secretly, letting out some lapses of indifference and apathy for the people he envies.” “Jealousy, typical of emotional characters, is in conservation E2 connected with the neurotic need to be the only one in the place of privilege, in the heart and in the life of the other. They also have their roots in the triangulation experienced as a child, when the father or the mother involved him in their jealous competition against each other.” “The possessiveness of the conservation E2 arises from the desire to merge with the other, in search of the security that he is always available, to ensure that he does not live the experience of abandonment, or the protection and satisfaction of his basic needs.“ Hanna completely lacks any contact with her flaws and faults. E4 is a very introspective type and are aware of their suffering, drowning themselves on it as if it’s something they need in order to grow as people. However, the process of Hanna is extremely pain-avoidant. She is constantly hiding her environment and projects an image of abundance and having life figured out but she doesn’t contact her feelings of inferiority at any point and refuses to look inward. This is proper of objective-looking types such as e2 or e3, where contact with the ideal self is more important than staying authentic. Some Hanna quotes btw, where she constantly pushes reality away in order to victimize herself and maintain the role of the helpless and genuine child: "I never intended to push the blame onto anyone. I never intended to be a bad kid.!" "It's not my fault...it's my-" "Hey, I." "Did I really just kill two people.?" "There's no way I did that…" "I...[l] am….” "I'm so cute..and more wonderful than anyone else.." <<< how many SP4s would act like this let’s be fr for one second. Hanna literally grew to resent Leia because she felt as if though Leia was already privileged enough (even if Leia is also just basically a walking facade) and she believes Leia doesn’t deserve the privilege like *SHE* should have had. She didn't want anyone to look down on her (dependence-independence issue of the SP2 in which they constantly try to project an image of abundance but then become needy because their needs aren’t met) so she adopted a persona to have *herself* and *others* believe that she was well-off. Contrary to Leia she does not have the ability to fully act out this persona (Leia is also E3 so her lack of identity goes hand in hand with that, compared to Hanna who still clings to her hard work and real life as justification for her behavior.) Hanna has a warped perception in which she desperately tries to convince herself that she’s a princess, that she’s the chosen heroine deserving of privilege. She became attached to Sherry because she was the one person who wouldn’t discard her.
