I'm surprised he's typed NFJ as I find his Fi-Ne-Si quite glaring. NFJ writers are more like Elif Shafak and J.K. Rowling. Shafak and Hosseini both like to write across generations, continents, sometimes characters, but while Shafak converges these multiple timeliness to form a singular theme or meaning, Hosseini sprawls away from the main plot and then back, spanning across different themes like family, redemption, sacrifice, trauma etc. He does not try to portray a singular truth, instead showing us the reality of Afghan experiences (Si). I think he shows great control of Ne and Si as he is able to draw focus back to his main plot, but he does let his imagination get away from him at times. His Fi is the most obvious thing about him in my opinion. It was evident in his writing, and his interview with Dua Lipa confirmed this. He seems like a nice guy, but doesn't exude external warmth or try to emotionally connect with Dua the way Min Jin Lee (ISFJ) does. He clearly writes from a place of deep feeling- his characters, even the Fe ones, often dwell in their inner well of feelings and can be quite resistant to the perspectives or valued imposed upon them. A good example is Mariam from A Thousand Splendid Suns who is an ISFJ overall, but shows some Fi in how resistant she is what Nana wants her to believe and mostly internalizes her feelings. All his books are centered on the private emotional struggles (especially guilt and conviction) of his characters. He doesn't openly moralize or preach- again, Shafak and Rowling for comparison. Fe authors tend to be a bit more forthright with what is good or bad, what you should and shouldn't do. Hosseini portrays moral decision-making as deeply personal.
