I thought he was an IxFP at first before I realized he was in grip. Definitely an ExTJ in later episodes, I think mostly healthy ESTJ because he has a strong attachment to his hometown and is kinda stubborn which is a Si stereotype, as well as having some good Ne (seeking new experiences and making good connections between Ted's metaphors) to balance it out.
