Posting my friend’s argument here (not mine!!!! Credit goes to my friend) **PART 1 OF ARGUMENT** [INTJ > ISTJ > ISTP] [WHY NI-TE OVER TI-SE AS DOMINANT FUNCTION] From Chapter 58 (prior to this chapter, Hikan and Adalicia set up a plan to take Dahlia to Vesta because they both do not want Cedric near her and because Hikan made plans prior to these events for Vesta): Hikan (to Dahlia): We're going on a trip. We have land all over the empire. Let's go somewhere scenic, like a mountain or the beach. Some places have good seafood in season, too. Dahlia: Uh, what? D-does it have to be that one? Hikan: His majesty ordered me to do something in exchange for granting me to leave. (in exchange for allowing Hikan's choice of going to Vesta to have Dahlia away from Cedric) This part is pure Ni and in later chapters, it is discovered that Hikan made arrangements with the emperor to go to Vesta because the Holy Empire is currently after Dahlia, plus he saw this as both an opportunity to keep her away from Prince Cedric [whom he does not like], whilst also keeping her away from the Holy Empire's grasps. He uses strategic Ni-Te here to devise a successful plan on keeping Dahlia away from assailants. Unfortunately, there is little to none of his Se shown, which makes me believe it is inferior. He does not utilize Se often, aside from the Vesta Night Festival Event (and if you read it, you will know that his Se is not as strong as Adalicia's and is not on par with hers, as shown with how he did not 100% succeed in the shooting game), which leads me to infer that although Se is in his stack, it is one of the functions he is least comfortable using, which would put it as inferior, rather than tertiary. He uses Fi much more prominently than Se in his decision making, to which I will further explain below. **PART 2 OF ARGUMENT** [WHY FI TERTIARY OVER FE] From Chapter 16: Emperor Michelio: Even without realizing it, Lady Dahlia, you're probably a comfort to Hikan's heart. I can feel those kinds of things as well. Hikan: Was the Emperor right? I was flustered when she ignored me since I thought she'd take my hand [ni-fi], and those feelings made me more confused [fi]. She was their "real child" I used to want to get rid of, but also my "one and only sister." [fi again] I should've just left her alone as she fell, but in the end, I couldn't let her go and grabbed her hand. My contemplation and hesitation... Were you able to read all of that? When you wake up... what should I do? [ni-fi?] He uses Fi prominently here, as shown with his wavering emotions, since the first day he met Dahlia. Dahlia had shown significant kindness to him, which is something he is not accustomed to, due to his troubled past. Although he greatly dislikes acting on his emotions, he cannot help but break his cold facade repeatedly, as his heart continues to waver [tertiary fi > inferior fi > inferior fe]. He also acts out on his emotions numerous of times, such as in a chapter, where Dahlia had said that she had wanted to get closer to him by reading a book about transcendentals; in a fit of shock and anger, he blurted out his past to Dahlia [demon si], leaving the room in anger that he had shared any semblance of his past to a his "one and only sister". It is also shown that his Fi can only be in the tertiary position and not inferior because although he hated to admit at first, he always referred to Dahlia as his "one and only sister", and chose not to cast her away/get rid of her, even though the thought lurked around his head constantly as an easy option.
