Nagaru Tanigawa (Tanigawa Nagaru,male, December 19, 1970) is a Japanese novelist, light novelist, science fiction writer, and manga author. After graduating from university, she worked as a manager at a women's clothing store before making her debut in March 2003 with "Dengeki! Aegis 5: The Shield and the Sheep" in March 2003. On June 7th of the same year, the 8th Sneaker Grand Prix winning novel "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" and Dengeki Bunko's "Escape from The School! Escape from The School" was released on the same day. The Haruhi Suzumiya series has sold 8 million copies in Japan, and the total number of copies sold in 15 countries worldwide, including paperbacks and comics, reached 16.5 million in May 2011and 20 million in 2017.
