Honestly, it isn't her fault however her character makes me so uncomfortable by the way it is written. She does not have an identity of her own but grows up to become the ideal "love interest" of the man. She was barely even involved in the plot besides for the fact of being a plot device, she had little to no impact or involvement. Just sad. I also don't get why Barnabus would leave Angelique for a woman he barely knows just because she looks like his dead lover. Shows how shallow of a man he is. I bet you that even in the past he abandoned Angelique after taking advantage of her and chose Josette just because of her looks and because she was more passive and didn't demand anything from him because he is a misogynist like that. I don't like Barnabus at all so it is good he didn't end up with Angelique because Angelique is a queen. Angelique is a baddie that is too good for him. He literally took advantage of Angelique in the past by being in a more powerful position than her and pursuing her just to abandon her despite the fact that it could risk her reputation (then he had the audacity to call her a sl*t) and he didn't consider the fact that she was in a more vulnerable position than him. He just used then discarded her once someone prettier and more passive came along. Angelique had full right to get revenge on him. She truly gave him her everything and loved him sincerely but he is shallow and to him she was just a good time. Pathetic.
