I have determined the big mistake the ISFP voters are making. Most ISFP voters are focusing on Squidward's environment and life situation, are taking that as a base for his personality, and attempting to explain why Squidward is unhappy with his place in the world. This Is not how you type personality, especially based from cognition! Just like how an ISTJ voter would be wrong for saying "Squid works at a cash register and Si dom's role in society is to do menial tasks no one else wants to do." It's also wrong for the ISFP voters to say, "Squid hates his boss, job, neighbors, and life and has to be an ISFP because he can't express himself through his dead-end job." We don't type like this because I am an a-hole and can come up with ANY fake personality type for this character given his surrounding. "ENTP Squidward breaks the social harmony by exposing everyone's flaws around him all of the time. Thinking everyone is an idiot, except for him, ENTP Squidward is hurt by his situation in life having a greedy boss and annoying neighbors, that he lashes out against the world for throwing his life into the garbage can. Squidward's Ne comes out to position himself in an argument in such a way that he is intellectually superior to anyone he interacts with..." See? Anyone can come up with arguments for any type of you focus too much on how the character relates to the world. This is why the subjectivity of why someone acts in their nature is important, and why someone breaks their nature is important to recognize as well. In short, you have to know why. Squidward has a dead-end job. Is it because: A) Squidward is Te inferior and can't find a way to monetarily express himself? B) Squidward needed to find temporary work while he works on his artistic ventures that turned out to not be successful, forcing him to keep working s job he hates? C) Squidward loves pain and suffering and picked the worst job for himself so that he can be as depressed as possible just to feel something in this cold, cold world? D) Squidward has a superiority complex and took a job where he could feel like the smartest, most-talented person in the room at all times to feed his ego? The list could go on and on but my point here is that the reasoning for cognitive behavior is not determined by the external situation but rather the reasoning for that behavior. One final point. The Squidville episode. Squidward's house gets blown up by his neighbors and Squidward moves to a neighborhood where everyone is like him and shares his interests. Squidward's grows tired of this life and attempts to cause chaos in the town. Now, what is the point of this episode for Squidward as a character? The ISFP voters point here and say that clearly, Squidward is bored with a daily routine, making him anti Si, and feels like he can't express himself when everyone around him is equally expressive in the exact same way (Te inferior) and then decided to destroy the town. ISTJ voters say that Squidward was initially attracted to the Si-Te predictable, safe lifestyle where everyday, Squidward could live his life exactly to a perfect schedule. However, with no chaos in his life, Squidward grows tired of the routine and feels like he loses purpose of every day is the same for himself. Then, his inferior Ne explodes out and Squidward goes on a psychological rampage causing chaos in the neighborhood, while mirroring the chaotic nature of SpongeBob and Patrick earlier in the episode, in an attempt to create problems to have problems to solve. Because that's what life really is about, solving problems, not blissfully living in utopia. Now, I support the ISTJ stance. Squidward goes for his top functions first, then his lower functions have nothing to do so they create chaos to balance out his psyche. The ISFP version has me ask questions like why would he be attracted to Squidville in the first place if the town didn't offer him comfort in his functions? If he hates uniformity and needs to express himself so much then why go to Squidville and get excited to go, rather than feel forced because his house exploded? That's why the ISFP position here doesn't make sense to me. Regardless, notice how the interpretation is so important as to explaining this character. The only way ISFP and ISTJ voters will get along is that they have to agree on some interpretation. Even if you are an ISFP voter, you give one point to ISTJ but then show a mountain of contradicting examples in other episodes. Or vice versa. The reason I'm so certain that this episode is the ISTJ take is because it fits the overall narrative. The point of the episode is that you don't always know what you want and you can learn something from others. Along with a utopian society is not desirable because safety and routine is boring (a consistent theme with the clashes between SpongeBob and Squidward.) If you want to challenge the votes, you need to explain WHY you're correct, not just HOW you're correct.
