I feel like Anakin is actually a CP6 There’s arguments made for 8, but none really quite fit right Ok, 8. He’s brash, confident, assertive, protective, doesn’t obey rules, deeply independent and always a powerful presence in the room. And he seems to have easy access to anger. Sensitive to injustice. Deeply loyal, like most 8s are. So, there’s a lot going for 8 But there’s a very weird undercurrent in Anakin that doesn’t go along with 8: his dependence on the other people in his life, and his deep anxiety He’s hot headed and impulsive, but always kind of checking himself by what others say about him or around him. TThe opinions of the people he loves will change his mind on what course of action he should take, even if he’s being bluff and Agressive about pursuing a certain course of action He leaps into action, defies plans… but always is tethering himself back to the people around him that he cares about And of course, the deep anxiety of being alone. Of letting the people he loves die. This DRIVES him. He’s not being driven by the fear of being controlled, but of being ALONE. All of this to say, Anakin has an anxious, and validation needing side that really makes me hesitant to call him an 8. There’s bravado, and courage, and assertiveness, and independence… but, it’s not STURDY. You can see through it sometimes, and the rather anxious and insecure person underneath There is a type that manifests itself this way. A type that is often CONFUSED for 8s, but has this weird little tinge of insecurity and a lack of self confidence that sometimes manifests The counterphobic 6 Everything about Anakin SCREAMS counterphobic 6. His bravado and his independence and his assertiveness always seem to come when it’s for somebody else, or a mission beyond himself. He doesn’t actually push effectively for himself, but always for the people he loves who are close to him. Now, he might WHINE when things don’t go his way, but he’ll actively MOVE when others are in danger. It’s like he gets anchored by protecting people, and the reason he gets anchored that way is because he’s anxious and lost without it. This is the counterphobic 6 The counterphobic 6 identifies him or herself with courage at an early age, and they get wired to react to their CONSTANT anxiety by being assertive, by jumping into action, and by protecting others. To disguise their fear from themselves, they disown their anxiety by adopting bravado and impulsiveness. They believe they can outrun their fears. They often assume leadership roles, because they want to be in charge, both because it feels safer at the top, but also because there’s a kind of… competing with authority to prove something, and to be safe The CP6 needs reassurance that they are brave, that they are loyal, that they are safe. And they get this by being reckless, and by protecting the people they love. They are ANCHORED by the people around them The CP6 is constantly acting out the drama that they feel alone. And they just want to feel safe, for somebody else to protect them. This manifests as a deep desire to protect others, because it makes them feel like they’re loved, and protected, Bevause they’re offering the value of saving that person The CP6 believes that, unless they’re brave and protective, and in charge, Noboyd would love them. And if nobody loves them, then they’d end up ALONE The reason Anakin cares so much about Padme dying is because he does not want to be alone He cares so much about Ashoka, and Obi Wan, because he doesn’t want to be alone There are a lot of scenes in TCW where, again, the mission that he has in mind, where usually he’s being a rebel and defying the Council’s Orders… he isn’t settled on the direction it’s going to go except when the people him offer strong suggestions. Anakin bases an enormous amount of his thinking off of what the people around say needs to happen The example I’m thinking of is when they’re hunting for Plo Koon in the 2nd episode. Anakin defies the council orders and goes probing, for Ashoka. Then, Palpatine calls and tells him he needs to go back, so Anakin cuts the mission short. But then, Ashako demands they keep looking, and drives the ship. And, Anakin gives in, and they keep looking Or in the next episode when Anakin is leading the squad, the thing that convinced him to stop going after Grievous’ tower was Ashoka telling him that she didn’t think this was a good idea. And he relented 8s are NOTORIOUSLY hard to steer and direct. 6s are not. And I’ve seen an enormous amount of decisions Anakin makes be steered by the people around him. This is my case for CP6 instead of 8
