I just watched the Casa Amor recoupling and the episode after and seeing Catherine go into her self-sabotage mode and then her and Scott having a total Fi v. Fe miscommunication pained me so much. The issue is that Catherine’s feelings of inferiority can be a Fi-dom thing but her actions are so callous and not empathetic at all to Scott that her Fi has to be her tertiary. It’s all there on display but it’s extremely childish. I’m not saying Catherine was totally wrong as I think it kind of touched on some things about Scott I noticed l. However, I think she jumped the gun by misconstruing Scott’s actions as “false” or “disingenuous” when for Scott he was showing his feelings for her in a way most natural for him. The way he used the fire pit confrontation as a show of his devotion to her is something a Fi user would not be impressed with. Their latest conversation in the episode after the Casa recoupling just shows that when they butt heads, they’re almost incapable of speaking the same language. I can understand Scott’s utter confusion over Catherine’s lack of empathy towards him and her need to characterize their relationship in the worst way possible and to shut it down. Catherine’s confusion over Scott’s Fe and needing that external validation of his feelings and kind of turning things back to him and her thinking he’s not valuing authenticity or seeing the reality of the relationship is a Fi thing but not a Fi/Ne dom thing but a Fi child and Ne inferior thing as Catherine’s Ne isn’t strong enough to ever consider what her Si/Te told her what was “right”. I was really rooting for them and thought Scott was the best guy by far and the whole thing upset me and it hurt me to understand why Catherine and Scott ended up blowing up the way they did even though they are so good for one another.
