I'm kind of surprised to find out this is an unpopular opinion, but I would say his gut fix is a 1, not an 8. I mean, one of the things I find most interesting about him as a character is that while his brothers will openly in indulge their respective sins, Satan actively tries to repress his. It is actually quite amazing to see how put together he is, bearing in mind that the compulsion to give into his anger 24/7 is likely as strong as Beel's hunger, Belphie's sloth and Mammon's greed. This sort of repressed anger is the main characteristic of type 1. Also, whenever he really goes into full-on Wrath mode the trigger is either his resentment towards Lucifer or a specifically self-righteous type of anger. And it always, without exception, ends up with him getting mad at himself. Spiraling into self-loathing because he lashed out. He doesn't chastise himself for being weak, but rather for the outburst itself. As a type 8 myself, my anger comes from a place of defensiveness. It is triggered by a perceived lack of control, a state of weakness. Anger is a tool. It is something necessary, it exists because it serves the purpose of keeping me and those I care for safe. Because of that, it is something I would never be able to ignore. Type 8 anger is born out of either compassion or self-preservation. I'd say it is almost animalistic. Now, Lucifer and Belphie though? Those two definitely have a significantly strong 8 fix. When they explode it is always because of a perceived outside threat, as an attempt to gain back control. That is not what Satan experiences, however. He has a very strong inner critic, and constantly struggles with it, both to distinguish himself from Lucifer (something deeply tied to his core 4) and to prove he is more than just wrath. He's a very perfectionistic individual, since Type 1 anger is caused by the disparity between reality and ideals. It isn't as immediate and in your face as 8, but more persistent and complex. There's just more layers to it. It builds up over a lengthy period of time, and when it explodes it is overwhelming for everyone involved. In short: it's not weakness that scares him most, but failure. Being wrong. In his eyes, imperfection means he truly is defective. Just a broken piece Lucifer casted off. When he gets healthier it is because he learns to start to accept himself for who he is rather than who he feels he should be. That is peak type 1 progress. By contrast, a healthier Lucifer learns to accept that he doesn't any right to control his brothers' lives. That it is okay for him to rely on others. Now, THAT is peak 8. Which is pretty funny considering Lucifer is listed here as having a 1 fix lmao.
