Aside from him being angry and maybe controlling, I see absolutely no signs of Beast being a SX 8. If anything, even Gaston looks a lot more like SX 8 than Adam. [Part 1] 1) 8's are the assertive type, quick to move to action, and refusing to be at the mercy of other people and fate. An actual 8 would have refused to accept their failure and would have done whatever it takes to overcome the challenges before them. Had Beast been an 8, he would not have cared as much about him looking like a monster and went out to look for ways to break the curse. But instead, he accepted his fate, lost all hope, and started wallowing in melancholy and doom, something that unhealthy 4s do quite often. 2) Both 8's and sx 4 are very reactive types that show a lot of anger (especially when unhealthy) but the difference in this wrath is that 8's display anger to show that they are strong and not to be messed with. In the case of sx 4s their anger is an emotional response to them feeling misunderstood, neglected, and different. The sx 4 will most likely react very aggressively to a trigger, but will later spiral down the path of despair. 3) Some speak about Beast's disintegration/growth and moving to 2 and 5. But 5 disintegration ≠ becoming that type. Just because an 8 in stress they don't just turn into a 5, and when they become healthier they don't just turn to a 2. When 8's move to 5, they are stressed because they are also afraid that they will lose their power, so like a 5 they start to hoard resources and knowledge that can help them feel more secure. They become withdrawn because they don't feel in power, so they move away so that others won't notice them becoming weaker. And they turn to a 2 when they gain confidence, and understanding that they are in control, so now they can move to 2 and protect those that can't protect themselves. Beast shows more clear signs of moving to a 2 in stress. When 4s realize that they were too harsh on other people, they are scared that the person they desire will leave them, that a 4 damaged that relationship, so they move to a 2, and will start to show that caring and pleasing attitude, to win back the affection of a person. This is what Beast does when he imprisons Belle - he realizes that he most likely ruined that relationship and made her hate him, so he decides to move to a 2 and do something nice to her, like give a better room. Same thing with him scaring Belle and forcing her to run away, he realizes what he's done, so he goes after her. Consider actual levels of health, because despite showing some patterns of stress/growth number you still remain your type at the core. 4) Also want to note that dialogue when Belle treats him after he saves her later: how he tries blaming her for escape and refusing to accept his fault. This is something sx 4s often do - project their pain to others, trying to blame people for their failures. What's more, I think that was also the reason why he captured Maurise - so he would suffer the same way Beast does. This 4 subtype is known for making others suffer because they themselves have also endured too much suffering. But 8s have a "fort" mentality, and they don't let others get close unless that person earned their trust. Unhealthy 8 would have *never* allowed someone new like Maurise inside their home, cause they're a potential threat. 5) Regarding his character progression - from selfishness to understanding. A tell-tale sign of an unhealthy 4 is that they are only concerned about their pain and suffering, blind to the struggles of others because they're so self-absorbed and feel unwelcome. But when they start to grow as a person, 4's start to understand the pain of others, and think of other people that are in trouble. That is also pretty much the Beast's arc - he starts off caring only about his problems and fails to see the pain Belle and his staff are in. But understanding and acceptance (what all 4's crave) of Belle helps him become a lot healthier. 6) His triad. 8s are a Gut triad, dealing with Anger and 4s are a Heart triad that deals with Shame. And if you look closely at Beast, he struggles from Shame a lot more than anger. After all, it was shame that drove him to stay hidden all those years. Beast feels that there is something wrong with him, that he's not like everybody else, and that causes him pain and thus, anger. He constantly references his appearance, he is ashamed of it. But when he starts to feel understood and accepted, feeling his worth, his wrath goes away, while Gut triad always has that Anger inside.

Biografia

The Beast is the male protagonist of Disney's 1991 animated feature film Beauty and the Beast. A young prince who once lived a pampered life, he was notoriously selfish and unkind in his youth. As punishment for his cruel behavior, the prince was cursed by a mysterious Enchantress and transformed into a hideous beast. Only by loving another and earning their love in return, would the spell be broken. The Beast is based on the titular creature from the folklore on which the film is based. In contrast to the original fairy-tale, Disney's iteration of the character was developed as a callous, almost-villainous force whom steadily redeems himself throughout the story. To that end, the Beast's narrative arc emphasizes the film's moral that "true beauty comes from within".
