He's just a stereotypical ISFP protaganist, a character for the audience to identify with. Someone who has a deep sense of right and wrong and acts on it all of the time. The series is basically pretty heavy on him and his fathers differences and the Fi, Te conflict between the two of them is very clear. It seems he has this innate responsibility and care for the individual whereas his father is about dominance, power and conquest. He's also so heart on sleeve, these ENTP votes are so misplaced. He never comes up with Ne possibilites or has any sense of Ti logic he acts according to his emotion consistently and in a somewhat naive manner. I also don’t know how he seems to take everything in stride which I can only assume is the adaptable nature of Se.
