It was utilized by him to gain distance and protection from potential harassment and violence of his allegedly insane, abusive and criminal twin brother, Jerome. However, this identity was finally buried when Jerome, as a parting gift, vengefully orchestrated Jeremiah's descent into sheer insanity through a specific version of the 'Laughing Toxin', set up as a springtrap in a jack-in-a-box, therefore forcefully inspiring Jeremiah to continue Jerome's unfinished legacy of terror and madness.
