I really like Ran in this anime. She has strong mind and heart, reliable , very loyal and patient. Despite only being able to talk to shinichi on phone for so long she never made assumptions or abandoned him for good although there were many instances where she assumed he was cheating but everytime shinichi proved her assumptions to be wrong. Because according to the series shinichi is also desperate to return back to her and he's trying hard to do so. Think if you were in shinichi's place and you really liked your girl wouldn't you want her to always stay by your side wanting her to wait for you? And ran is just like that she is very ideal for shinichi because she always waits patiently to meet him in person and have strong faith in him which was developed over years because remember they know each other from their childhood. If it was any other girl she would have already assumed that he is cheating on her and left. So her simplicity itself is very special. She is totally led by her faith and feelings for shinichi which is unusual in daily life.
