He’s much more reclusive, calm, and organized than in the movies; that’s what makes him more terrifying. He still holds E8’s values of action and possession, but he has his own intelligence and strength to hold himself up. Most of his reasoning for what he does in the novel is a desire for power over others, which devolves into a violent nature. Chris, having a similarly intense mindest, is one of the only people to outwardly challenge Billy, and even she ends up losing to him.
