Dr. Liara T'Soni is an asari researcher who has spent the past fifty years of her life studying Prothean technology and culture, specialising in the Prothean extinction. Liara chose a career in archaeology to indulge her interests and to escape the pressures and high expectations of being the daughter of Matriarch Benezia. Liara spent most of her time in contented solitude. Liara is shy and not used to lying. She confesses she always seems to say something embarrassing around other people. Liara is very compassionate and she even feels sorry for Saren. Her personality becomes much darker and ruthless, showing willingness to break the law. Despite her increased maturity, she is still a naive scientist. She is very excited when she finally gets to meet a Prothean, only to discover that they are a far cry from the benevolent entities she thought they were. She repeatedly criticized Javik for not living up to her extremely over-idealised image of Protheans.
