Her insight and ability to read people aided Christian in getting his business deal. “She must’ve picked up on Richard’s baffling need for personal connection…I hid a tint smile before I closed the deal Stella had opened up for me” (86). She displays clear Ni. “Part of me had anticipated this crash from the beginning. My relationship with Christian had been too perfect, and nothing that good could last forever.” Persistently trying to find a deeper, hidden meaning. “Every sentence out of his mouth was a code I couldn’t crack, imbued with a hidden meaning only he was privy to while I was left to scramble in the dark.” INFJ’s may seem calm and put together due to people pleasing and their need for social harmony, but inwardly- a ball of chaos. “I was supposed to be the cool, calm one, the one who saw the silver lining in every cloud and remained levelheaded no matter the situation” (19). “Cool, calm, collected” is a phrase she keeps repeating throughout the novel every time she put on the ‘INFJ mask.’ Like Nina Sayers (INFJ), Stella seeks perfection. “That was the image I projected most of my life because that was what was expected of me as an Alonso… an Alonso was supposed to be perfect.” ****** While Ava is an ideal depiction of the INFP, Stella differs strongly. Ava has introverted feeling which makes her appear spontaneous which could be displayed in her outbursts with Alex and her fight with Madeline. Stella door-slamming Christian was very different from the way Ava shut Alex out. Ava lost herself and entered a depressive state, while Stella carried on laughing and still got that bag with an ache in her heart. Infj’s are said to be really hard to figure out. Whether it’s because they rarely open up or are scared to be vulnerable. Christian spends this whole book trying to figure out Stella and comparing her to a puzzle. Alex spends the whole book telling Ava exactly what kind of person she is.
