He also has scattered attention instead of a superficial mindset tbh. The recurring mistake shows in that this isn’t the first time he has gotten in an accident, you can see it from the convo. I don’t think he has chronic aimlessness, he actually has an aim (to feel something) but the way he approaches it is by ignoring all the potential risks. - The more you compare the more it shows which clicks better tbh like it’s not so much that life is tedious for him but that he simply doesn’t have the energy to do it properly - I don’t think he necessarily was trying to feel good because he was riding a motorcycle with a busted leg 🦵 that was far from feeling good but it does show that he withdraws completely from his friends to go to the middle of nowhere to get the chance to reassert his current position in life. You can see his mindset through all of it was pretty pessimistic and he ends it with the note that **** won’t get better - I think it’s far more the alone, isolated, misunderstood, underappreciated. While the entire zine thing was going on, nobody noticed how xyx was feeling down (alone) and he was the only person who didn’t participate in the zine which got him singled out by June (isolated, unintentionally or not this also makes him withdraw further) + the talk where they discuss how xyx can’t be serious and xyx is actually hesitant to show that because he already has to do it in his line of work which likely involves unsavoury characters + he didn’t want to apply that attitude to them (misunderstood), most don’t actively notice that xyx actually cares about people/more mindful than he lets on + his favouritism for the best friend is a reflection of himself (underappreciated) - if mc asked whether he took cat to the vet, xyx completely overlooks the fact it’s a practical question and goes straight for the irritable/compulsive assumption that the player was insulting his intelligence by assuming he didn’t do the obvious when in reality, they are probably trying to be practical and give advice - Obsess over one issue + feel unmoored + fear of losing what little he has: All shows evidently in the epilogue where he uses Cat as his crutch and tells Cat to get better since it’s only the two of them now
