Some people don't get why most vote for INTP and for some reason think he's ISTP just because Trent tries to survive. I watched this movie a few times already because I wanted to figure out what personality he has. To me personally Trent appeals to me a lot because he's not just a kid, but also has quite a layered personality. First of all, remember how Trent acted in the very beginning. He was quite a curious kid, especially in the scene where he asked around people about name and occupation. Trent had no practical reason to do this at this point. Later when rapid aging started first of all he tried to understand WHY this happens. So his abstract pattern seeking is obvious to me. He's more open to bizarre explanations instead of denying them. Also his tertiary Si shows itself throughout the movie. On the beach he notices small details and how they change. Amidst the chaos he clings to the family boundaries because this is what grounds him.
