Just a "mind is principle" cannot make him an INFP. Te comes before Fi in his personal development since as a child he focused on the interpretation of the universe, and "mind is the universe" was just his conclusion. He kept a good use of Te throughout his life and was quite proud of it. There is no way that he was an Te inferior. Besides, when Fi doms attack a theory, they will focus on its violation of their personal values (like vulgarity or cruelty). While although he had an intense Fi and even judged people completely by their intentions, what first came to his mind when he found a theory wrong was that the latter was over complicated, or breaking the principle (which should be one) into various parts. This is a trait of an Ni Dom, not an Fi Dom. More generally, his emphasis on instant manifestation (Ni-Se) is even more evident. What he called the "easy and simple approach" is just focusing on the intention on every case and thus the principle will always manifest to people. His confrontations with Zhu Xi just betray that his preference for Ni-Se perceiving axis dwindled the latter's. Also, an INFP is very unlikely to have his stubborn and even aggressive (by the standard of ancient China) behaviour that he displayed.
