𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐇𝐄 - 𝐒𝐈 𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 (1/2) > “as I watched yun jin’s performance, i felt a warm sensation in my heart… and as the drink reached my stomach, it went from warm to hot… when you hummed that melody just now, feelings from a whole year ago came right back to me, as strong as they were on that day.” i wanted to start this argument by using the quote above (from the 3.4 lantern rite festival), as it is one of the most obvious examples of shenhe's si. as an introverted perception function, si perceives objects or events in the external world (yun jin’s performance, the melody, and the drink) which can lead to subjective impressions/sensations (fueled by Si). the “feelings” that came back to shenhe from the previous year are an example of such a subjective impression. these impressions can often be connected back to specific moments in the past (where similar sensations were experienced), which is why si is often mischaracterized as being focused entirely on the past when this is in fact incorrect. > "introverted sensation is the sensing function that perceives phenomena in such a way as extraverted sensation does above, but in a subjective manner. jung wrote that "the subject perceives the same things as everybody else, only, he never stops at the purely objective effect, but concerns himself with the subjective perception released by the objective stimulus. subjective perception differs remarkably from the objective. It is either not found at all in the object, or, at most, merely suggested by it." (wikipedia) in my opinion, the best word to describe si is "qualia", described by the oxford dictionary as "the internal and subjective component of sense perceptions, arising from stimulation of the senses by phenomena." despite only being one sentence long, this definition grasps the nature of si perfectly, as it is exactly this. wikipedia goes on to describe qualia and its examples... > "examples of qualia include the perceived sensation of pain of a headache, the taste of wine, and the redness of an evening sky. as qualitative characteristics of sensation, qualia stand in contrast to propositional attitudes, where the focus is on beliefs about experience rather than what it is directly like to be experiencing." (wikipedia) shenhe does exactly this when describing the taste of the drink. also notice how she doesn't perceive it directly or notice its objective characteristics (which would be in favor of se rather than si): instead of commenting on what it tastes like objectively or the quality of the drink itself, she focuses on the subjective sensory impression that it gives her. i think another good, realistic & universal example of qualia is deja vu (which is arguably less developed than other types of qualia like shenhe's, as often people who experience deja vu aren't able to connect it back to a past experience or sensation). deja vu is a subjective (internal and personal) sensation that is most of the time triggered by external stimuli. > "(when the wind is blowing) yes... this reminds me of master. she loves to ride the swift winds of qingyun peak." this is a briefer example of si, but is still si nonetheless. upon experiencing the feeling of wind, shenhe rather than detailing its physical and present traits connects it to her subjective experiences (connecting it to her master and how she likes to ride qingyun peak's winds). and yes, anyone can have deja vu & qualia, it is not limited to solely people who use high si. but what matters is whether or not these subjective sensations influence perception and how they affect judgment. for shenhe's si to be dominant, it would have to mean that all of her other functions, including her judging functions, are guided by the influence of her si. i'm going to prove that they actually are.

Shenhe (Chinese: 申鹤 Shēnhè) is a playable Cryo character in Genshin Impact. Adopted daughter and disciple of Cloud Retainer. Hailing from a branch of the same clan of thaumaturges as Chongyun, various events conspired to bring her under the wing, so to speak, of the adeptus, who not only trained her in the way of the adepti, but also helped her control a childhood curse that frequently draws out her aggressive, nigh-murderous urges. Shenhe's training under Cloud Retainer has turned her into a powerful exorcist who summons "Talisman Spirits," phantasmal beings in her likeness, to attack alongside her, with a particular specialization in empowering fellow Cryo Vision holders.
