The 1w9 consensus is ridiculous. A 1 would be incapable of working a career that they truly felt to be “screwing people for money” for years due to their compliance to their incredibly active superegos. He also states that a huge motivation for his success was “wanting more”, which is not necessarily a 1 trait, though it can be. He is not comfortable with essentially screwing people over until it interferes with the vision of the person he wants to become, which brings us to his actual type, a 3w4. He quite literally tracks the path to integration of a 3 to a type 6. He initially uses other people and their businesses as a means to an end for his own personal development, but then realizes that he wants to build something larger than himself and agrees to work with the man he was going to screw to do so. He moved from being individually focused and morally pragmatic to team oriented and willing to see himself as a larger big picture, tracking the path of integration for type 3. His 4 wing is apparent in his more subdued demeanor and attraction and taste for fine things and art, like his immense appreciation for opera and the scene where his attraction to music and playing piano is shown. He has a charm and knows who he needs to be in every room, a clear 3 trait. I’m unsure of his subtype though because it’s hard to say. He was drawn to create wealth out of familial shame of his father, another trait that screams 3, but he also did it to regain security that he had when his father was wealthy. This and his seeming lack of need to show off to the eyes of others indicates sp 3, but that is not certain. there are many more examples if his being a 3, and if you watch the film through this filter it will be incredibly apparent. I also believe Richard Gere is a 3w4 himself.
