Jūshirō Ukitake (浮竹 十四郎, Ukitake Jūshirō) is the captain of the 13th Division in the Gotei 13. Ukitake is suffering from an unknown illness, and he is only able to regain health by hosting Mimihagi (the Right Arm of the Soul King) in his body. Ukitake is a close friend of Shunsui Kyōraku, and both of them are taught by Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, the former commander of Gotei 13.
