I originally thought at first upon playing both PoR and RD that Ike could be a Fi-dom... but I think at its core, this is due to a healthy upbringing having him master his Fe-inf and him being a SP9. The stuff he says as a matter of fact and the way he internalizes information is just so TiSe, especially him stating so matter-of-factly when comforting Soren in his A-Support with him: ~ Ike: Hey, Soren. Soren: ... Ike: I've been thinking a lot about what you said the other day, and there's something I still don't understand. You survived. You're strong. Why would you feel insecure about who you are? Tell me. Tell me everything. Soren: Curse you! Why can't you leave me be?! I don't have any friends, Ike! I don't have anyone else! If I tell you and you turn on me... I... I... I don't think I can survive it. Ike: That's why you have to tell me, Soren. You'll never tell anyone else. And if you don't tell anyone, you're just going to keep suffering. Look at you! You're a mess! Come on. Talk to me. Soren: Ike... I... I... Ike: Soren, it's me! Trust me. I don't give two figs who your parents are! I'll stand by you. Soren: Ike, I...sniff... No, I won't... ..sniff...Ah, Ike... ...I'm... Branded. I'm one of the Branded. Ike: A Branded? What's that? Soren: It's a cross between a beorc and a laguz. Soren: Magic comes from interaction with spirits. If you let one into your body, it will give you tremendous power...for a price. That's why the old sage was so interested in me. He thought I had struck such a deal. But instead, I was just a filthy Branded. Ike: All right. I understand. So? Soren: ...What do you mean, "so?" Ike: So, you have laguz blood in your veins. So, you have a mark to prove it. So... What's the problem? Soren: What's the problem...? Don't you find me repugnant!? I work beside you, eat beside you. I'm nothing! I don't belong anywhere! Doesn't that sicken you? Ike: No. It doesn't change anything. You're still you, Soren! You're a capable officer of our army. And my friend. We can't keep going unless you are with us. ~ He doesn't try to comfort him, he just plainly explains with total empathy and care why it is that it doesn't matter. That's peak Ti-Se-Fe at its core and also shows a lot of empathy in general. There's also his rage at stuff that doesn't make stuff to him like bigotry and racism like what Chapter 11 and him finding the contradictions "insane," like, there's no way this man is a Fi-dom. That said, I do think he's a pretty textbook SP9; despite how blunt he is, he's quick to comfort others and ultimately doesn't want to hurt or upset others, and he's generally pretty distant compared to everyone else but also full of warmth. "Satisfying one's own hungers is the driving force of the conservation subtype of the E9. Laziness here manifests ironically, it is a substitution of nonessential satisfactions for those that he really needs. Often you can see an E9 immersing themselves in activities just to narcotize, activities such as eating, sleeping, playing games, sports, reading etc. Because of their sloth, they lose spirituality and a touch with their inner self, which can lead them acting irrationally, without clear defined actions other than just chasing physical stimulation. In short, this type has a duality between forgetting themselves through activities and a drive to ensure the most basic survival. Ichazo called SP9 "Appetite", someone who has a passion to satisfy his own hungers, a constant stimuli that compensates for the registration of one's necessities. Naranjo described this more in depth, conservational sloth results in carelessness about one's own survival needs, this then manifests as lack of awareness of what's actually needed, so the need for survival is replaced with a constant longing for comfort, food, distractions, sleep and other sensory stimuli." I don't think it's any better to describe him than just wanting to live his life and satisfy his hunger to understand the world... and this is what drives him to end up going on a journey in search of new lands. Overall, he's a very healthy ISTP SP9w8 IMHO, possibly the healthiest I've seen on this site in a while.
