Yami is more laid-back than assertive. He's also SLI>SLE for the same reason. The guy just doesn't bother with things and lives day-by-day enjoying the comfort of the mundane. You won't see E8 lazing off, even as w9, because they are more outgoing and assertive by nature, constantly finding ways to engage with the physical world where they like asserting and expressing their physical power and capabilities. Yami uses Dark Magic, which can cover his blade in darkness to launch black crescent-shaped blasts or suck magical attacks into a black hole. He uses it in combination with his ki sensing to fight.
