Born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Grapevine, Texas, Malone rose to fame in the mid-2010s following the release of his debut single "White Iverson". The song, which peaked at fourteen on the Billboard Hot 100 and later certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), garnered Malone a recording contract with Republic Records.
