Imagine being born with an ego you feel you have that is unearned. So you spend your entire life trying to live up to that ego to prove to yourself and to others that it is real and is deserved. I have to prove myself at every turn to justify my own sense of self esteem that I feel I was gifted with at birth. The reason I'm so full of myself is because I'm trying to convince myself that my high ego is earned, that I deserve to hold it. Not because I like putting others down or because I refuse to be on the same level as others.
