If somebody intends to kill or seriously harm you, you may want to consider if you have a moral obligation to stop them from doing so, given that you may not be their last victim if you do not. The real question is one proportionality; how little force can be applied in order to stop the attacker. The problem is, in reality it is very difficult to determine what an outcome otherwise would have been. Also, while less force in theory would have been sufficuet, making a precise and accurate judgement between what is proportional and what will effectively ensure your safety, in the face of immediate and potentially life-threatening danger, is next to impossible. I think it is undeniable that it can be justified.
