It's funny typing places but since it has actions and thoughts thanks to author Stephen King (Also i loved the film, a masterpiece) I'll do it. We could say that he is an incredibly underrated character (also quite terrifying) because the hotel overlooks in the book when his true form is described as a monster with tentacles capable of reasoning when he was burning in the flames. Throughout the movie and book, the hotel, despite not acting directly, does not even speak, but it can be interpreted through its actions. The place was seducing Jack using the ghosts with promises of unlimited alcohol, belonging, understanding, this was not only the case with him, but also with the previous guests who stayed at the hotel for years before the family's arrival, understanding his feelings, desires easily as if they were a storybook, offering people with emotional problems a bizarre sense of belonging, uniting all ghosts to a cause, accepting their worst versions (unhealthy dominant Fe) During the events of the book/movie. The hotel implied that he has a twisted, deep vision of human nature, seeing them as puppets who must satisfy their vices and needs such as sex, alcohol, parties, violence, sadness, which makes them want to take advantage of these strong emotions to manipulate them, kill each other. Devises a long-term plan to slowly corrupt Jack, knowing that he was recovering his life after alcoholism (Dominant Ni). Literally, the place is a compilation of all human evil, feeding on negative emotions, adapting to the changes, including the guests who arrive at the place that I mentioned before, thus the place continues to satisfy its appetite for their souls, growing more and more monster of the place (Se tertiary) I vote for eneatype 3 sexual because the hotel shows an image of a welcoming, safe and orderly place on the surface to the guests who know nothing about it, it seeks to seduce those to become part of the place while hiding behind it an extremely disturbing internal evil.

The Overlook Hotel is a major recurring antagonist of The Shining multiverse. It serves as the main antagonist of the novel The Shining, it's 1980 film adaptation, it's 1997 miniseries, one of the two posthumous overarching antagonists (alongside Jack Torrance) of it's sequel Doctor Sleep, the overarching antagonist of it's 2019 film adaptation of the same name, and a minor antagonist of Billy Summers. It is also a mentioned in Misery, Castle Rock TV Series, and The Stand miniseries. It was a secluded hotel located in the Rocky Mountains during its history, it was the site of many unsavoury activities, including suicides, gangland hits, and many suspicious changes of ownership, yet the hotel remained a luxurious destination known for its sumptuous grounds and spectacular mountain view.
