strohl ESFJ argument REVISED EDITION AVAILABLE: https://www.personality-database.com/comment/10370430?profileID=1609598 fe: he is the embodiment of being a fe dom. when he first met will, he stood up for him being discriminated against. after diving more into the game, you can see that he is very reactive with situations that affect people, like how he wants to save people even though they have already passed. in his bond, he focuses on trying to help people who were misplaced during the human invasion of halia. he goes out of the way to EVEN use his inheritance just to give his people proper shelter. basically, he's emotionally and ethically charged as a character. si: his bond mostly focuses on trying to rebuild his past hometown, and he constantly tries to relive the events that transpired through it. next, he constantly brings up his dad’s teachings on how to hone a sword properly if you spend some time with him. when going to brilehaven, you are met with him reminiscing on his childhood in that city. "My parents took me once when I was a boy, I remember the day we arrived, and waking up to the smell of the ocean.” (nostalgia came into play, and it was personal to him). “The place was crowded beyond belief. Everything was so different from our hometown in the countryside.” (him comparing one experience to another experience, a very si thing). another thing is that when you go to the city ruins, his trauma makes him remember his ruined hometown that was razed by humans (this also can happen to ENFJs due to trauma response, but at the same time, this thing happens to all personality types too). his motivations mostly stem from his past experiences, and if he was using ni, he would have a bigger vision than just rebuilding his hometown. just as a commenter (paprixie) said, he always parrots his parent’s phrases when he’s doing the laundry. sure he has a goal to take down louis, but he does it in a systematic and detailed way throughout the game. ne: first, he came up with the idea that they should bring a person’s head instead of a monster when he knew that there are bounties that are people too. everyone else had the same idea when he thought out of the box. based on his past knowledge (si), he inferred that bounties also include criminals, hence, he proposed the idea of bringing a head of a criminal in the competition to sway the audience (ne). next, he brings witty comebacks when he’s in an arrogant mood/talked back upon. when the captain talked badly about his nobility, he replied with “Rousing words, Captain. You think threats will buy loyalty? No wonder nobody respects the guard anymore.”. when you also go to the imp’s den for the side quest, the group stumbles upon the goborn king and he says, "What, so he’s big and put “king” in his name. I say we show him the price of his hubris!”. when the team was struggling to infiltrate the gauntlet runner, strohl suddenly had an idea to mingle with the guards by drinking with them (based on what they heard from the guards gossip). ti: he displays a strong grasp of ti throughout the whole game. he always tries to get to the bottom of the situation on how to solve problems, and always has to think thoroughly before making decisions. this also shows much when it comes to missions and his bond. now looking at the blindspot functions: si trickster (ENFJ) tends to forget their own comfort (like sitting in a chair for hours). looking at the game, strohl constantly looks for comfort (hes always self aware of his own sensational comfort, hence why i think he is a si user). ni trickster (ESFJ) lacks insight. he is careful, yet at the same time very impulsive when it comes to battle. this is telling that he lacks insight on what is going to happen. he does use ni at times, but i think si is stronger at this point. CONCLUSION/TL;DR: i have talked about this with other people, and they agree that they see more si than ni in him. he also said that "he can hardly come to terms with his own ideals", implying that he isn't really a big-picture thinker. also, at the end of his bond, you can see that his goals changed over time. at first, he wanted to just get ahead, but after meeting will, he now realizes the truth about his father’s inheritance (with the help of will’s ni), and wants to help the people of halia with it. this is a sign that his goals are short-sighted, and it changes over time (ne). placing this onto practice, what i have noticed on ENFJs vs ESFJs are their convergent and divergent thinking patterns respectively (special thanks to vance landow’s comment on amy rose’s argument on her page). i notice that he’s more of a divergent thinker, since he makes inferences from past experiences then makes new possibilities from it (refer to the ne part of my argument). if he was a convergent thinker, he would have thought of a single conclusion and would have assumed that they should bring a really big head for the contest instead of being creative with it.
