He’s AVOIDANT avoidant. Through smoking and sleeping and refusing help and downplaying everything, all conflict is numbed into stillness. He can’t handle reality, so he wants to fuse with a woman who can, long before the well makes it possible. He seeks bodily unity because emotional connection feels volatile and intimidating. He chooses to pull her down instead of trying to stand up. When they fuse, it’s not as romantic for him as it is for her. He surrenders into peaceful annihilation, erasing her too. I’ve dated too many 9w8s, and so I’m less compassionate to their toxic traits than I could be. This movie is made by a man and has a man’s blind spots. I’m sure you know what I mean.
