Originally from Sussex. His father (also named Godwin) rebelled against the english monarchy which led to impoverishment and fall from grace: “Godwin was a sweet boy, but his father's betrayal changed everything. The loss of his home, title, and wealth, and dealing with the shame of this, made him angry and bitter. His mother died shortly after his father's imprisonment.” He ascended to be chief counsellor to King Æthelred II of England and shortly feigned support towards Prince Edmund as well, whom he ended up killing due to his pragmatic allegiance to King Canute wherein he became the earl of Wessex. He is generally opportunistic and probably wants to become King of England. He is freshly married to a niece of King Canute. “God may forgive you, but I never will.”
